Black Odonata (Libelle), 2018
Live performance, 40'00''
Collective Arts Incubator, Los Angeles
Through the medium of dance-theater-based performance, Black Odonata documented how ghostly memories of Ohaguro (an old beauty ritual of blackening teeth that has widely disappeared) have molded our gaze and deformed our bodies. The distorted dance movements created a fleeting evidence of Ohaguro's absence. The uneasy and horrid smile presented its resilience throughout history and its mourning at the same time. The story was told from the perspective of a dragonfly nymph.
