Parts of Dance, 2023

Parts of Dance presents an interim project that re-evaluates and re-articulates the methodology of my kinetic studies and choreographic archival processes. The interim project was necessary because my body had been undergoing breast cancer treatment for years and was asking for a more anti-ableist approach to dance.

Part I: Revised guiding scores that serve as a methodology for my studies.

Part II: Process scores for celebrating the dysfunctional body.

Part III: Creating paper notations of the five movements. The making of the mulberry paper notations borrows from the Korean shamanic folding and cutting practice.
